Loren Warkentin

I really love being a part of Central Heights! There’s something very special about belonging to a local body of believers and participating in the growing process that takes place within that body.

A son of Central Heights’ pioneer missionaries Elmer and Ruth Warkentin, I was born on the island of Borneo, Indonesia. For most of my early years I lived in a little village deep in the jungle – 200 kilometres from the nearest city. Later, after Bible College and marriage, I returned to Borneo with my bride, Becky. Here we served as missionaries among the Dayaks for 16 years until visa issues required us to return to Canada to stay. Our wedding motto was, "One in Christ, Love and Service". Today our heart’s desire is to continue serving Him in that same way no matter where He puts us.

The Lord has blessed Becky and me with three tremendous kids: James, Esther and Elizabeth. All three were also born in the middle of the jungles of Borneo, but more importantly, all three love Jesus.

I am currently leading the elders through a course called "Biblical Eldership."  The New Testament indicates that Jesus has entrusted the spiritual oversight of each local assembly of His Church to its Elders. In this "Biblical Eldership" course Central Heights’ elders are examining what the Bible teaches about the qualifications and responsibilities of eldership. They are working hard to apply what the Scripture teaches to their own lives and to the administration of the spiritual life of the church. Please remember to pray for the elders and the pastors.

"In all your ways acknowledge him..." states Proverbs. 3:6. I want that to be the theme of my life.  To get to know him and his Word is my goal! I encourage and challenge others to do the same.
