Lyndon Plett [Worship]

Have you ever wondered what they do with youth pastors when they get old? They make them into Worship Pastors, I guess. Actually, it has been exciting to see the path God has led my wife Doretha and I on since coming to Central Heights in 1991. We have loved our eight years working with youth, and now, four children later, God is growing and stretching us as we learn how to lead this church in worship.

I chuckle sometimes when I think about me in this position. What would my Dad say if he saw me conducting a choir? Sure, I took a lot of piano lessons as a kid, but did I practice? Well, not much. I can still hear my music teacher's voice ringing in my ears..."One day you are going to regret not practising!" (How many of us have heard that line before?) And you know what? She was right. So God is giving me my education on the job. The people here at Central Heights have been very gracious and patient, and God is moving among us as we grow together to express our praise and honor to Him. As my Senior Pastor once said, (as he taught about Moses) "Hey, it doesn't matter what kind of bush it is, as long as God is in it!"

I have to admit it's a pretty incredible privilege to be freed up to do what you love to do. In everything we are doing, whether it be a Sunday morning service, or a full-blown Musical, we want to honor God with our whole hearts. I want it to be the very best it can be, because it is for the King. I want to help the people here develop the artistic gifts God has given, because they are His kids...part of His body. And I want whatever we do to be authentic...because Jesus was really hard on the fake and phony.
