Marie Kennedy [Food Services]

I am a chef by trade and I find it a great joy to work with others here at Central Heights Church in Food Services. We opened the Coffee Connection in September 1998 and this ministry is growing continually.

I previously managed the Food Services for a golf course in Alberta before coming back to B.C. in 1987. At that time I worked at the Vancouver General Hospital in their kitchen for 6 years. My next stop would be to work for Menno Hospital on a part time basis and manage the coffee house at House of James for one year.

July, 2000 I became part of the Central Heights staff and started working as Kitchen Coordinator. At the same time it had become mandatory in British Columbia to have a food safe kitchen. This meant upgrading our kitchen requirements to make sure we would meet these new needs. In the last 4 years we have held 6 Food Safe courses and every ministry can now meet the Food Safe requirements. In 2000 we also started to take on more food service events such as conferences and weddings. We now have a full service menu to choose from and we can do special requests in many forms.

Our mission in the kitchen is…

I have been blessed with 5 wonderful children, their mates and 6 grandchildren. I am blessed! The Lord is good to me!
