Sylvia Quiring [Children]
I have a passion to involve parents in their children’s spiritual formation so that children will be strong in their spiritual convictions. We strive for excellence in our programming, curriculum choices and love to encourage our volunteers!
My husband Dave and I have lived in Abbotsford for most of our lives. We met at a singles group at Central Heights and have four adult children. (No grandkids yet!) I believe that children are a gift and that our investment in them is invaluable. A church that sees children as the future is wise indeed.
Interests and favorites:
- Places: I like traveling up and down the West Coast.
- Music I like: I was brought up listening to classical music and I enjoy it very much. But I love listening to the Christian radio station and singing along with popular Christian songs in my car when nobody is listening!
- Reading: I like to read books that give me insight and information. Leadership books interest me a lot. I pick up secular magazines here and there to understand the voice of the world I live in. Book Challenge: Just Walk Across the Room (Bill Hybels) Bible: presently going through the book of I Corinthians.
- Favorites on TV: House, ER, Grey’s Anatomy, TLC surgery shows (do you sense a medical theme here?) and Iron Chef.
- Sport Teams: Not something that interests me. (or my husband… whew!)
- Movies: I like ‘feel good’ movies that have a good ending with a value learned.
- Hobbies: reading, crocheting, cooking, picking up coffee at Starbucks.
- Dislikes: Shrimp
- Odd Facts: I’ve sprained my ankle over 20 times. You’d think I’d learn.
- Significant Scripture: Proverbs 3:5,6
[5]“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”
