Marriage Ministry
When a man and a woman meet, and fall in love - it's a beautiful thing. When they make a marriage covenant together, to love one another in good times and in bad, for richer for poorer, for better for worse, "til death do us part"...it's a wonderful celebration! When they apply the principles that make for a healthy, strong, and growing relationship—married life is awesome! But...when those principles aren't applied, married life can be really, really difficult. And if couples don't fight for their marriage - it ends up falling apart, causing brokenness, pain, hurt, and trouble.
Marriage is wonderful... if it's done well. If it's not done well, it can be misery. In a culture where stats show that almost half the marriages end in divorce, we know that marriage isn't easy, and needs lots of encouragement, support and resources to help couples build marriages that last a lifetime!
At Central Heights we're committed to building marriages that last a lifetime! Our desire for those who are wanting to get married is to help them build a strong foundation at the start. We have specific marriage mentors connecting to engaged couples for dialogue and discussion 4-6 times before they get married AND 4-6 times after they are married. This mentor couple will walk alongside the engaged couple before and after they get married to answer questions, work through issues, pray together and encourage them in their relationship. It's a fabulous way to start off as a couple.
We're also passionate about building up and encouraging marriages that are long past their wedding day. We want to regularly invest in the marriages of our church! One of the ways we do that is through quarterly events called Married Life Live. This is an event for couples to come out on a Saturday night, hang out with other couples, eat some delicious desserts, laugh lots, and walk away with one or two practical things that they can apply to their marriage! We want to regularly invest in marriages.
We also want to be a resource for couples who are struggling with things in their marriage. To sit down over coffee and talk through the issues and walk with couples through difficult times. And for really deep and tough issues we have resources, and experienced and trained people to deal with those issues.
