So here is the challenge: Leading and equipping our seniors to minister on behalf of Christ and enjoying the fun times of fellowship as well. "What is the challenge?" you may be asking yourself. Well, what is a senior in this day and age? Many organizations are offering discounts for seniors and their age benchmark is 55. Some 90-year-olds still want to get up, and just as Caleb did, take another hill at an age when others are content to rest and reflect.

It is not easy to find a balance so that all those considered seniors have a program and care ministry to rely upon. But we try.

The seniors at Central Heights enjoy a vibrant ministry and within that ministry find time to support in prayer and practical terms the other ministries within the church. Seniors and Second Half provides opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship, learning, singing, ministry through visitation and prayer, missions trips and a whole lot of fun. Yes! There is fun in serving Our Lord.

Curious? Come give us a try. A number of our scheduled events are open events. You do not have to be a member at our church to join in. We love nothing more than to welcome newcomers and make them feel at home. Try our New Horizons program - a monthly mix of games, spiritual content and supper on the first Wednesday of every month.

You are probably also wondering where the Second Half aspect comes in. The answer to this one is simple. Many seniors are so active and so determined to serve the Lord in whatever capacity they can, that they do not want to be labeled a senior. Good for them! So to accommodate them, the ministry is for all those who consider themselves a senior and all those in the second half of their life.

Maybe the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas identified with our seniors ministry when he wrote, "...do not go gentle into that good night. Old age should burn and rage at close of day". Or Henry David Thoreau, the American 17th century poet when he wrote, "...none are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm".
