Capital Projects Update

Having received the approval of the congregation, we would like to give some information on two additional Capital Projects, which are needed renovations and upgrades.

Women’s Centre Relocation

Over the last several years, the Women’s drop-in program has continued to grow. The room they are using has become too small to accommodate, and the facilities are less than ideal in providing the necessary support. Therefore, a plan was developed that allowed the use of a larger area to house the drop-in centre, the food bank, the clothing boutique, and also provide a kitchen area and proper access to washrooms. The staff reviewed the needs of Women’s Ministry, and worked with the Children’s Ministry and the maintenance and kitchen staff to reallocate room usage. With that worked out, the room shuffle began. Children’s Ministry have taken advantage of the move to consolidate some of the areas they were using. The maintenance staff have taken over some rooms that allowed them a more central location, and the kitchen staff have also moved their office and storage rooms. At this point the structural changes have begun, and drywall is being installed. Some walls have disappeared and opened areas up for larger groups. The anticipated cost for this renovation is $50,000. As there is no approval to borrow money for this work, the funds must be raised in order to complete the project. A bequest we received earlier has provided $25,000 towards this project, and the balance still needs to be funded. Please mark any donations “Women’s Centre Relocation”. Video Equipment

With changes in technology, there are necessary advances in equipment to allow production in keeping with the standards that we are accustomed to. It has been quite a number of years since we have purchased new equipment, and we are at the point where we need to purchase a new high definition camera, as well as some mixers. This will allow us to develop further uses and applications for the videos taken of the worship services as well as produce our own videos as needed. We have budgeted $18,000 for this equipment, of which $5,850 was designed from a bequest. The balance needs to be received before the funds can be spent. Donations should be marked “Video Equipment”, and can be included along with your regular offerings.
