5. The Benefits of BECOMING A MEMBER

Back in 1979, when the Dinosaurs roamed the earth, I had the privilege of making the Calgary University basketball team. I was thrilled just to be on the team. By making the team I was given opportunities, privileges and benefits. Today we are inviting you to join our team.

When you join the team at Central Heights Church, I would like to think that the following would be considered benefits...

1. Being identified as part of the church membership list. Being able to say you belong somewhere helps people to identify who you are. Being a member of Central Heights Church is quite different from being a member of the Hells Angels.

2. An accountability relationship with the body of believers at Central Heights Church. You are able to give suggestions and improvements with greater credibility. As well it is a privilege to be given the attention and time when you need to be held accountable on matters which we have defined for our members.

3. Certain leadership opportunities are reserved for members only.

4. When an individual is in need of financial assistance, special attention is given to those who are a part of our membership family.

5. If you desire to be sent out from our church as a missionary or full-time Christian worker, it is required that you be a member.

6. Every year we vote on our Annual Ministry Plan. Only Members are allowed to vote.

7. Occasionally we will follow up on our members with a “How are you doing?” personal health check up form.

Membership is not about exclusivity. It is about identifying fellow team members. It’s about “playing the same game”. The game we are playing is the game of life. Eternal Life.

Oh, and by the way. The Mascot for the Calgary University Basketball team is “The Dinosaur”.
