Central Heights Church

Central Heights is a vision of God for the glory of His name, and we exist to Savour, Strengthen, and Share that vision. Investing ourselves to understand and actively live the message of Jesus is what we are about. Worshipping, praying, praising, equipping, training and developing a loving community of fully-committed Christ followers is who we are. Living, loving, ministering and touching the lives of people in our neighbourhoods, community, province, nation and world with the message of Jesus Christ is our response to the fullness of God's Spirit in us. We invite you to come join us in this great adventure of faith.
History
Central Heights Church was started in 1950 as a church plant of South Abbotsford Church. Since those beginnings in what was then rural Abbotsford, the church has grown and enlarged its buildings several times. Under the charismatic leadership of a number of lead pastors, the church became a significant presence in the community. The church maintained a focus on missions, and sent and supported a wide variety of families on the mission field.
In 1985 the latest building addition included a 1400 seat Worship Centre. This provided the community with a large capacity hall for various events such as graduations and concerts. The 120,000 square foot facility also provided a venue for a variety of conferences, schools, recitals, workshops, etc.
Current
Under the leadership of Pastor Chris Douglas, the church provides a contemporary worship service, as well as a traditional service. Our congregational is multi-generational, with strong representation in each age grouping. The church is intentional in leading people to being God Saturated, to being Engaged with each other and the community, and to living Incarnationally - representatives of God to the world.
The church is intentionally missionary minded, continuing to support a large contingent of missionaries, as well as being involved in our community both directly and through various local parachurch and community organizations.
The church is lead by elected Elders, and the pastoral and support staff give leadership to the programs and day to day operations of the church.
Recently the church formed its own distinct society, and retained its affiliation with the BC Conference of MB Churches.
Floor Collapse
On April 25, 2008, at a youth concert, a section of the floor in the Worship Centre collapsed. Several people were injured, and we ask for continued prayer for their complete recovery. The floor has yet to be repaired due to various factors. The church is now meeting in the "old sanctuary", Nikkel Hall, located at the north end of the building. The smaller venue necessitated adding services to accommodate the congregation.
Central Heights Church is a member of the BC Conference of MB Churches
